    Nepal’s first OTT app, Net TV, receives official broadcasting licence

    Net TV Pvt. Ltd., a prominent entity in Nepal’s digital entertainment sector, has been granted an official licence to operate an Over-the-Top (OTT) broadcasting service by the Department of Information and Broadcasting, which falls under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

    Niran Rajbhandari, Net TV’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), characterized the attainment of this official OTT licence as a significant historical moment for the organization. He conveyed his belief that this accomplishment would foster additional expansion and professional advancement within Nepal’s digital entertainment landscape.

    Net TV, which began operations in 2017, states it was the first IPTV service provider in Nepal and has been instrumental in the nation’s video streaming and digital content industry. With the government’s approval now secured, the company announced its official capability to deliver round-the-clock OTT broadcasting services throughout Nepal via its mobile app and website. Net TV plans to air licensed Nepali, English, and Hindi television channels, along with approved international programs and diverse digital content.

    The platform, according to the company, provides access to over 1,000 movies, including blockbusters, TV series, local and global dramas, live sports, live television, and numerous other channels. Content is accessible to users at their preferred time using mobile phones, tablets, or smart televisions.

    Under its motto, “One Subscription, Unlimited Entertainment,” Net TV indicated that the ongoing confidence and backing from its clientele, collaborators, and supporters have motivated the firm to continually improve its service quality. Net TV Pvt. Ltd., with its main office in Kusunti, Lalitpur, affirmed its dedication to broadening its offerings to deliver a novel digital entertainment experience to Nepali viewers.
