Cabinet secretary for Cooperatives and Micro small and Medium Enterprises Wycliffe Oparanya has been left with an egg in his face after an aborted Orange Democratic Movement party meeting held in Malava constituency dubbed as “Broad based “rally after senior politicians and leaders pocketed allowances for attendees.

Oparanya, who was accompanied by acting party secretary and kakamega woman representative Elsie Muhanda, left the ground in a huff as the crowd became hostile shortly after he finished addressing.

Muhanda has declared for Kakamega county governor position in the coming 2027 general elections.

The delegates who were earlier promised kshs 5,000 were now to receive Kshs 300 which was not even available as it is believed the organisers led by Lugari Mp Nabii Nabwera and the acting party secretary Catherine Omanyo had fled the scene avoiding phone calls.

Finally, when she picked the call after being informed that the public wanted to set ablaze the tents,Omanyo is said to have promised to sent khs 300,000 instead of the budgeted kshs.800,000 though she was non committal on when the money could be sent.

Meanwhile, at the field already, the party merchandise were being burned by the delegates who were unhappy with the mistreatment by the learners they termed as greedy.

Oparanya has been asked not to set foot in the area until when he clears the mess by paying the allowances.

Earlier in the day, buses were spotted ferrying attendees from as far as Butere,Likuyani,Lugari, and Mumias.
