A report by the New York Post has revealed that Andrew Cuomo is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) over sexual harassment claims.
Cuomo was forced to resign following a New York Attorney General report regarding multiple sexual harassment claims against the former Governor.
The Post, which describes the report as a “stunning revelation,” discovered the news after a Freedom of Information Law filing showed a legal services contract released by the state Comptroller’s Office.
The contract states: “DOJ has also undertaken an inquiry related to sexual harassment claims made against the then Governor.”
Sources have told the newspaper that the investigation revolves around possible violations of federal civil rights and labor laws.

Cuomo Under Federal Investigation
The report also states that the contract references other previously known federal investigations into Andrew Cuomo – including the “administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, its cover-up of nursing home deaths, and Cuomo’s $5.1 coronavirus memoir.”
Cuomo famously issued an executive order which forced nursing homes to take on patients that had tested positive for coronavirus.
The NYSBA (New York State Bar Association) Task Force on Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care determined that the executive order policy led to “some number of additional deaths.”

Sadly, the nursing home scandal has taken a back seat to other more salacious but less deadly scandals that have enveloped Cuomo over the past year.
Just weeks ago, a New York state ethics commission voted overwhelmingly to rescind approval of Cuomo’s aforementioned $5.1 million book deal due to “material omissions and misrepresentations.”
Those misrepresentations center on Cuomo’s alleged use of state personnel and resources to write and edit the book that prematurely celebrated the governor’s handling of the pandemic.

Taxpayers Paying For Cuomo’s Legal Fees
The Albany Times Union reported earlier this week that Andrew Cuomo’s numerous scandals and investigations are costing taxpayers dearly.
That assessment also comes from an analysis of records released by the State Comptroller’s office.
“State taxpayers could be on the hook for $22.7 million in legal costs related to controversies involving former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo,” the Times Union writes.
Fox News meteorologist and author Janice Dean, whose husband’s parents were both victims of COVID-19 in which nursing homes in New York played a part, shared her disgust.
“Not only did his decisions cost lives, but now taxpayers are on hook for $23M in Cuomo-related legal fees,” she wrote.

Aside from the federal investigations into Cuomo, the former Governor saw his younger brother roped into his sexual harassment scandal earlier this week.
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was suspended following a document release by the New York AG’s office indicating he used media sources to track down information on sexual harassment accusers against his brother.

Like his brother, Chris Cuomo was taken down not by his efforts to help cover up his brother’s inept handling of the pandemic and the subsequent suppression of data, but by a relatively tame scandal.
It’s rather remarkable that the deaths of thousands of elderly people in New York state has consistently taken a back seat to Cuomo’s other scandals. It’s rather remarkable that as a supposed journalist, Chris helped him promote a false narrative of being the COVID savior.
Thus far, neither man has paid a penalty for this. Will these federal investigations of Cuomo change that?
