Award-winning Nollywood actress and philanthropist Rachael Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has expanded her creative journey with the launch of her debut memoir, “Odogwu Girl: From Dreams to Reality”.
Speaking at the launch which held the the Lagos Oriental Hotel on Sunday, Rachael said the memoir is intended to inspire women and young people to believe in themselves regardless of their circumstances.
“I’m happy to have written something that will inspire, encourage and motivate women to keep believing in themselves, no matter what they are going through or where they come from. I want everyone who reads this book to leave feeling encouraged and empowered,” she said.
Reflecting on her inspiration, the actress revealed that losing her father at 13 and helping to care for her five younger siblings strengthened her resolve to succeed.
“Life has never been easy for me, but one thing has always stood out; my decision to keep going and to thrive no matter what comes my way. My life is proof that a woman can overcome challenges, break stereotypes and still succeed.”
Rachael described the book as an extension of her commitment to mentoring and empowering others, saying it offers personal experiences, life lessons and encouragement. Guests from the entertainment and literary communities attended the launch, celebrating the actress’s move from the screen into authorship.
