Ramco elevates Sandesh Bilagi as CEO to drive global expansion and AI-native enterprise software strategy
The appointment follows the company’s operational turnaround as Ramco focuses on expanding its global business and embedding AI across its enterprise software portfolio
Ramco Systems has elevated Sandesh Bilagi as its chief executive officer, promoting the executive who led the company’s operational turnaround as it focuses on global expansion and becoming an AI-native enterprise software company
Bilagi takes over from his role as president and chief operating officer, where he led the company’s return to sustained operational profitability, delivering six consecutive quarters of operational profit through FY2026
The appointment marks the company’s shift from improving operational performance to accelerating growth across international markets while integrating AI more deeply into its products and operations
Ramco said Bilagi will focus on expanding its global business and advancing its strategy to become an AI-native enterprise software company
Ramco Systems’ chairman, P.R. Venketrama Raja, said the company’s performance over the past several quarters reflects a sustained operational turnaround
“Over the past several quarters, Ramco has emerged a stronger, more disciplined company. Six straight quarters of operational profit are evidence of a genuine turnaround, not a one-time correction,” Raja said
He added that Bilagi had been central to the company’s turnaround and understood its customers, markets and operations
Turnaround leader takes charge
Bilagi has over two decades of experience across enterprise technology, having worked in sales, delivery and operations
He founded Ramco’s Australia and New Zealand business, which the company said has grown into one of its strongest international markets through major customer wins and expansion of its product and solutions portfolio
During his time at Ramco, he has also led sales and operations, managed the organisation through two leadership transitions and supported business continuity during the COVID-19 period
Ramco Systems, managing director, P.V. Abinav Ramasubramaniam Raja, said Bilagi had played a key role in both building the ANZ business and improving the company’s operational performance
He added that Ramco’s priorities are now centred on expanding globally and embedding AI across its products and the way the company operates
AI and global growth become key priorities
Bilagi said Ramco has restored profitability and strengthened execution, with the next stage focused on growing the business
He identified two priorities for the company
The first is expanding Ramco’s presence in global markets by strengthening its go-to-market strategy across its HR and Global Payroll, A
The second is transforming Ramco into an AI-native enterprise software company
According to Bilagi, the company’s approach is not to add AI as another product capability but to redesign how products are built, delivered and operated using AI
“We have done the hard work of restoring profitability and sharpening execution; the task now is to sustain that rigour and convert our strength into growth at scale,” Bilagi said
“Second, becoming a truly AI-native company—not bolting AI onto our products, but rebuilding how we design, deliver and operate around it, so that every customer experiences a measurably better outcome.”
He added that Ramco will continue building an organisation that can adapt quickly to changes in technology and customer requirements
Before joining Ramco, Bilagi held leadership roles at HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra
According to the company, he has led strategic growth initiatives, established offshore development centres and closed enterprise deals worth more than USD 550 million with leading Australian organisations
Bilagi has worked across India, China and Australia during his career and has experience managing enterprise software businesses across the Asia-Pacific region
