Rubanda District leaders have praised the Government of Uganda for its ongoing investment in health infrastructure, stating that the current and completed projects will significantly enhance access to quality healthcare services throughout the district.

The leaders made these remarks during an inspection of construction works at Muko General Hospital and Bufundi Health Centre IV, as well as during the inauguration of health facilities constructed by the Uganda People‘s Defence Forces. Among the projects inaugurated were a new maternity ward at Kagarama Health Centre II in Shebeya Parish, Hamurwa Sub-county, and a four-stance VIP latrine at Ikumba Health Centre III, which are expected to improve maternal healthcare, sanitation, and overall service delivery.

Rubanda District Vice Chairperson Prossy Kesafari commended the government and the Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi, for supporting the expansion of health infrastructure in the district, noting that these investments demonstrate the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and the well-being of the people of Rubanda. “The district recently recruited more health workers to address staffing gaps at Rubanda General Hospital, a move that will enhance service delivery and improve access to medical care,” Kesafari said.

The District Health Officer, Dr. David Mporampora, called for the construction of a new VIP latrine at Shebeya Health Centre II to further improve sanitation and hygiene at the facility. “I pledge to continue working with health workers, local leaders, and development partners to strengthen healthcare services across the district,” Dr. Mporampora said.

Earlier, the district leadership inspected the ongoing construction works at Muko General Hospital and Bufundi Health Centre IV to assess progress and ensure the projects meet the required quality standards. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to closely monitor all government-funded projects to ensure they are completed on schedule, deliver value for money, and improve healthcare service delivery for the people of Rubanda.

The inspection and commissioning exercise is part of the district’s efforts to promote accountability and ensure public investments in the health sector translate into better health outcomes for local communities.
