The mother of four posted a video on 1 July in which she shared that her daughter was diagnosed with cancer late last year.

“When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER, and they didn’t quite know what to make of it,” Smith said in the video.

“So when we took her to our paediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”

Smith is a model and content creator, famous for videos where she makes complex dishes from scratch. She has 12.6 million followers on TikTok and 4.9 million followers on Instagram.

In a video uploaded on Friday, Smith thanked her fans for the support she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, have been receiving amid their daughter’s cancer diagnosis.

“Lucky and I have been going through this and processing it for the last eight months, and we were debating on even sharing such a private part of our life,” she said.

Smith wanted to wait until her daughter was done with treatment, so that they could share the outcome.

“Now that she’s finally in remission, it felt like I could find the words to share,” Smith said.

“The whole point of my sharing our experience was to shed light on what so many families go through and battle privately,” Smith said.

“Going through chemo treatments opened my eyes to how expensive medical care is and what a toll it takes on families, specifically.”

She has been researching charities and foundations to support and posted a few links that could help families.

Smith and her husband have now been trying to “return to everyday life and taking it day by day”.
