All words, phrases, and lines, indeed the ink of pens, would run dry trying to write about His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani â may God have mercy on him.
Our father passed away, leaving a legacy that will be passed down from generation to generation, and his memory will remain eternally cherished, and his deeds will endure.
Among the deeds of HH the late Father Amir was his role in shaping humanity and nurturing generations, not only in Qatar but throughout the world, including Africa.
It is worth mentioning that his impact extended across Africa, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
The example and proof of what I say is not far off.
I came to this country nearly 30 years ago as a student at the Religious Secondary Institute, and then at Qatar University on a scholarship from HH Sheikh Hamad, and returned as a diplomat at the Gambiaâs embassy in Qatar.
Many citizens of other African countries benefited from similar educational opportunities.
This is how he invested in the African people through education, believing that the progress and advancement of nations depend on their people, and that education is the only path to that.
Relations between HH Sheikh Hamad and sub-Saharan African countries witnessed significant development during his reign (1995-2013), as Qatar adopted a more open foreign policy towards the continent, based on diplomacy, development, economic partnerships, and humanitarian work.
I will mention just one example, though there are many, and it is the diplomatic dimension represented by expanding diplomatic relations with sub-Saharan African countries, opening and strengthening the work of embassies and diplomatic missions, exchanging official visits between senior officials, and signing co-operation agreements in the fields of economy, education, health, and investment.
He who resided in our hearts and minds has departed, and he will remain in our memory.
We will continue to remember him for our children and for generations to come, for he was the Amir of love, goodness, and peace.
It is not only Qatar that mourns our father, but the entire world.
I extend our condolences to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, to the entire al-Thani family, and to the people of Qatar.
We raise our hands in supplication to God, asking Him to shower His mercy upon HH the late Father Amir and grant him entry into the highest Paradise with the righteous prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and what excellent companions they are.
To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.
