    South Sudan backs continental minerals strategy following Abuja ratification

    South Sudan’s Minister of Mining has expressed the country’s readiness to support a new continental strategy on mineral re Strategy Group (AMSG) Charter in Abuja, Nigeria

    The charter was formally adopted during a ceremony held at the State House in Abuja, bringing together African leaders and ministers to strengthen cooperation in the management and development of the continent’s mineral re

    The AMSG is expected to enhance policy coordination, promote value addition, and support strategic investment in the mining sector to ensure Africa’s mineral wealth contributes to job creation, infrastructure development, and broader economic transformation

    The summit, held under the theme “One Africa, One Reu, who signed the Instrument of Ratification of the AMSG Charter and assumed the role of Chairperson of the AMSG Heads of State General Assembly

    Speaking during the ceremony, South Sudan’s Minister of Mining, Losuba Ludoru Wongo, said the country supports the continental initiative and emphasized the need for unity in managing Africa’s mineral wealth

    “The theme of this summit, one Africa, one reortant in today’s global challenging economy. Africa’s mineral future cannot proceed through fragmentation. Divided Africa is a failed Africa,” he said

    He stressed that Africa’s re

    “Our people must see tangible benefits from re must have greater economic opportunities. Our communities must gain access to schools, to better health services, to good roads, electricity and clean water,” he added

    The Minister further noted that South Sudan is committed to the continental agenda

    “South Sudan stands ready to contribute to this shared African vision. We are sure that we shall achieve that,” he said

    The Africa Minerals Strategy Group is expected to serve as a key platform for coordination, technical cooperation, and investment mobilization across Africa’s mining sector in the coming years
