Global consumer electronics maker TCL on Friday launched its 2026 range of artificial intelligence-powered smart televisions, air conditioners and home appliances in Nigeria, as it seeks to deepen its presence in one of its key African markets

The company said the rollout underscores its strategy of delivering premium technology at affordable prices while expanding its footprint across Nigeria and the wider West African region

Speaking at the launch in Lagos, TCL’s General Manager for West Africa, recently in Lagos, Daniel Ray, said Nigeria remains a strategic market within the company’s Middle East and Africa operations. He said the latest products reflect TCL’s push to align global innovation with evolving consumer lifestyles in emerging markets

“Nigeria is one of our most important markets in the region,” Ray said. “We are bringing our latest global innovations to meet the changing lifestyle needs of Nigerian consumers.”

Ray said TCL, which describes itself as the world’s second-largest television brand and a leader in Mini-LED and large-screen displays, is guided by a “premium technology at affordable prices” philosophy. “Our belief is simple: innovation should be accessible and designed to improve everyday life,” he said

The 2026 product lineup includes the C7 SQD Mini-LED television, FreshIN 3.0 smart air conditioners, smart refrigerators and C5 washing machines, all integrated with AI-enabled features aimed at improving energy efficiency and user experience

Ray said the FreshIN 3.0 air conditioner offers up to 75 per cent energy savings compared with conventional models and more than 37 per cent savings over standard inverter systems

He said the unit includes offline voice control, self-cleaning functions, air purification technology and compatibility with Google Home, Amazon Alexa and TCL’s smart home application

The company also introduced the Power V7 floor-standing air conditioner designed for larger spaces, featuring AI-driven energy management and smart controls. Ray added that TCL is exploring local assembly in Nigeria in partnership with SIMS Nigeria, its distribution partner, as part of efforts to deepen local value creation

“We are considering opportunities for local assembly with our partner to strengthen our presence and support job creation,” he said

Head of Marketing for TCL West Africa, Dennis Laryea, said Nigerian customers will benefit from improved after-sales support through SIMS Nigeria, the company’s sole distributor

He said SIMS will oversee nationwide distribution and servicing of the new product range, which includes energy-efficient appliances, air purification systems, and low-vibration washing machines

Laryea said while TCL currently imports products into Nigeria, the company is evaluating the possibility of establishing a local assembly facility in the future

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SIMS Nigeria, Ik Eyisi, said the partnership has helped bring global technology closer to Nigerian households

He said the 2026 lineup combines innovation, energy efficiency and design tailored to local consumer needs, adding that customer feedback has influenced improvements in areas such as energy performance and voltage regulation

Eyisi said SIMS is also investing in skills development through training programmes for engineers and technicians, as well as collaborations with Nigerian universities to support technology transfer

He said the products are available nationwide through SIMS outlets, authorised dealers and online platforms. TCL said the new range is now available across Nigeria through SIMS Nigeria and other approved retail partners
