    Team SA started the day with 80 medals at the African Youth Games in Luanda, topping the medals table, with swimming having accounted for 50 of them heading into Tuesday. The morning session gave Team SA a mixed bag of results. Swimming continued to impress in their heats, while judo suffered three losses, before Dane van Heerden lost his bronze medal match. 

    In the evening, swimming again came to the fore, wining 11 medals – six gold, four silvers and one bronze – to lift Team SA’s tally to 91.

    Boys -50kg: Dane van Heerden lost to Senegal but has qualified for the bronze medal match

    Girls -48kg: Mishka Scheepers lost to Angola

    Girls +70kg: Ayabulela Gwama lost to Algeria

    50m freestyle: Eric Kotze was fastest overall in 24.23, while Kyle Snyders (25.33) was 10th and second reserve for the final

    200m medley: Gerard February was fastest in 2:15.85 and Roelof Bartleman 3rd fastest in 2:18.40

    Girls

    50m freestyle: Maya Mgcina was fastest overall in 27.31, while Sophia Trout (29.88) was 20th and missed out on the final

    200m medley: Giuliana Vyncke was 2nd fastest in 2:30.26 and Bailey Lambert 4th fastest in 2:33.49

    Boys

    50m freestyle: GOLD! Eric Kotze

    200m medley: GOLD! Roelof Bartleman 

    1500m freestyle: SILVER! Matthew Goller BRONZE! Kellen Jenes
    4x100m medley: GOLD! Team SA (Kotze, Martin, Pretorius, Snyder)

    GIRLS

    50m freestyle: SILVER! Maya Mgcina 

    200m medley: GOLD! Bailey Lambert SILVER! Giuliana Vyncke 

    800m freestyle: GOLD!  Leah Markgraaf SILVER! Kylie de Bruin

    4x100m medley: GOLD! Team SA (Lambert, Veldsman, KOtze, Maritz)

    Boys singles, quarter-finals: Hlumani Kekana lost to Kenya 2-6, 7-6, 10-5

    Girls singles, quarter-finals: Lonwabo Majeke beat Burundi 6-0, 6-4

    Girls singles semi-finals: Lonwabo Majeke lost to Tunisia 6-2, 2-6, 10-5
