Delhi HC declined interim relief on the plea by Sonam Wangchuk’s wife seeking his transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to a hospital of his choice. The Court noted that Mr. Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike for 17–18 days and that his medical condition is “perilous.”
It accepted the Centre’s stand that shifting him to Safdarjung was a medical decision, not an arbitrary one. The Court recorded that his potassium levels are dangerously low, medicines have been administered with his consent, IV fluids have not been given as he has not consented.
Opposition walks out of all-party meeting over presence of rebel Trinamool faction

Police action forces end to tribal protest against MP’s Ken-Betwa project after 15 days
The Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday (July 19, 2026) morning cleared the site where several tribals have been protesting against the Ken-Betwa river link project and other irrigation projects in Chhatarpur district, and took the protest leader Amit Bhatnagar, who has been on a hunger strike for 14 days, to a hospital.
The police also dismantled the protest site, on the banks of Barana river near Kupi village, and symbolic pyres used by the demonstrators, with officers saying that the decision to bring them out of water was taken due to rising water levels after heavy rains in the area.
10 feared dead, houses damaged in flash floods in J&K
At least 10 people were feared dead aftertorrential rain triggered flash floods in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday (July 19, 2026). Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to offer “all possible assistance” from the Centre.
Officials said the worst affected was Poonch district in the Pir Panjal valley, where 10 people were feared dead after floods swept houses in Lower Murrah in Bufliaz, Surankote tehsil. “Four missing civilians are being traced,” officials said.
Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approves UCC draft bill for presentation in State Assembly
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Sunday (July 19, 2026) approved the draft bill for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State at a special meeting held in Jagdishpur near Bhopal.
The Bill, prepared by a six-member committee headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, submitted its report to the Chief Minister recently, recommending that Scheduled Tribes (adivasis) be excluded from the purview of the UCC. It is now scheduled to be tabled in the Legislative Assembly in the monsoon session starting on Monday (July 20, 2026).

NEET-UG: NTA warns against fake, AI-generated OMR sheets; legal action may follow
The National Testing Agency (NTA) hasissued an advisory to NEET-UG 2026 candidates and their parents, warning them not to submit fake or AI-generated OMR sheets when raising complaints about score discrepancies.
The warning comes after the NTA reviewed several complaints regarding differences between candidates’ expected and declared NEET 2026 scores. During the verification process, the agency found that many of the OMR sheets submitted with complaints appeared to be fake or created using artificial intelligence (AI).
Murmu departs for three-nation European tour to boost ties
President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday (July 19, 2026) embarked on state visits to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania to further relations with the three countries in a range of sectors, including trade and technology, and to boost people-to-people ties.
