According to President Museveni, the agreement represents an important step in strengthening Uganda’s telecommunications sector, with a focus on enhancing security, improving revenue assurance, and ensuring accountability across service providers.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and operational licence agreement between the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC)  and Starlink,  marking a key milestone toward the satellite internet provider’s planned entry into the Ugandan market.

According to President Museveni, the agreement represents an important step in strengthening Uganda’s telecommunications sector, with a focus on enhancing security, improving revenue assurance, and ensuring accountability across service providers.

The President emphasized that government’s priority is to ensure clarity on operators in the sector as well as transparency regarding customer activity within the telecommunications ecosystem.

He further noted that Starlink has agreed to comply with Uganda’s regulatory and legal requirements as it prepares to commence operations in the country.

Museveni welcomed the development, expressing optimism about the company’s future role in expanding internet connectivity and improving digital access across Uganda.
