Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has paid an emotional tribute to his late best friend, Alexx Ekubo, sharing a video compilation of their cherished memories more than two months after the actor’s death.

Ogbonna posted the video on Instagram on Sunday, reflecting on their years of friendship and describing the memories they shared as a testament to love, laughter and family.

“It was all God. It was all love. It was all laughter. It was all dreams. It was all family. You will forever remain a part of us. Rest on, Ekuuuuu.”

The emotional tribute quickly resonated with fans and colleagues, attracting more than 50,000 likes and over 2,000 comments, with many offering words of comfort while recalling the close bond between the two actors.

Reacting to the post, #adanze_h said the memories left behind were now all those who loved Ekubo had to hold on to.

“Memories is all we have left. Keep resting Alexxx. Keep being strong ikay.”

In another comment, the user imagined how emotional it must have been for Ogbonna to compile the video clips.

“I’m wondering how teary you will be putting all these short video clips together. Kia.”

#miss_cassieblingz described the friendship between the actors as rare, saying Ogbonna might never fully recover from the loss but would instead learn to live with it.

“Chaiiii a friendship with such bond. Ik will never be able to heal from such loss, he’ll just learn to live with it. May God continue to comfort and strengthen you. You’re loved.”

#dabbychimere admitted the video initially brought smiles before ending in heartbreak.

“Smiled till the ending part. Omo death you do this one.”

For #bilicious_bee, the tribute reflected how deeply Ogbonna continues to miss his friend.

“If IK turns left, right and center on his phone all he see his Alex.”

Others, including #anita_ekwebelem, #lextowngirl and #coopertreasure, urged the actor to remain strong, describing Ekubo’s death as a painful loss that would be difficult to forget.

#supernickky_musik also reflected on the brevity of life, writing, “Time nor Dey. Make God help us all.”

Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after a private battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer. He was buried in his hometown of Arochukwu in Abia State following funeral rites attended by family, friends and colleagues.

The late actor and Ogbonna shared a close friendship that spanned more than 15 years. Following Ekubo’s death, Ogbonna paid an emotional tribute during the Service of Songs and has since been supporting the late actor’s parents.
