    COGTA Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa has called on the National Treasury to freeze municipal funding for spheres of government failing to account for their spending.

    Meanwhile, IDAC investigator Brian Padayachee stood firm during a tough cross-examination on Tuesday, denying any existence of an underhanded “cabal” involving suspended officer Feroz Khan.

    Treasury should freeze funds for other govt spheres: COGTA Minister

    The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa, believes the National Treasury should also withhold funding for other government spheres and not just municipalities.

    He said he supports the National Treasury’s initiative to withhold equitable share funds for 69 municipalities temporarily due to poor management, adding that it has the constitutional mandate to do so.

    Acting industry colleagues of the late veteran actor, Seputla Sebogodi, have described him as a humorous and easy-going man.

    Sebogodi, best known for playing Kenneth Mashaba on the popular TV soapie Generations, died on Wednesday from complications related to diabetes.

    Lead investigator grilled about IDAC’s relationship with Feroz Khan

    The senior investigator at the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Brian Padayachee, has faced tough questions about the entity’s relationship with tainted Crime Intelligence top cop Feroz Khan.

    This comes on the back of allegations previously made at the commission that senior IDAC officials have an improper relationship with Khan.

    Parliament’s Impeachment Committee says recess won’t stall work on inquiry

    Parliament’s Impeachment Committee tasked with probing allegations of impropriety against President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to meet at least three times before the third term resumes next month, in efforts to get the Section 89 inquiry off the ground.

    This is not withstanding this week’s legal proceedings brought by Ramaphosa to halt oral evidence, until the Western Cape High Court has conducted a judicial review of the parliamentary report that has given rise to the inquiry.

    Jayden Adams’ family still reeling from his death: ‘Everybody is shocked’

    The family of Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfield star Jayden Adams is still in shock after he was found dead a few days ago.

    Adams’ relatives, friends, teammates and coaches gathered at Stellenbosch Town Hall on Thursday morning for a private memorial.
