South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has revealed that his future with Bafana Bafana remains uncertain despite leading the national team through a historic FIFA World Cup campaign

The 74-year-old tactician, who has played a key role in South Africa’s recent resurgence on the international stage, admitted that while he has already decided this will be his final FIFA World Cup as a coach, he is yet to determine whether he will continue in his current role beyond the tournament

Speaking after South Africa’s impressive World Cup run, Broos said discussions over his future are expected to take place in the coming days and weeks

“I will see in the next few days what I will do for the future

” I said this is my last World Cup and it is my last World Cup for sure, but what will happen in the next days and weeks depends also on how South Africa see the future with me.”

The veteran Belgian coach stressed that any decision will not rest solely with him, suggesting that the South African Football Association will also have an important say in determining the next chapter of his tenure

Broos has transformed Bafana Bafana into one of Africa’s most competitive national teams since taking charge, guiding them to notable achievements and restoring belief among supporters

His latest accomplishment at the FIFA World Cup has further cemented his legacy, with South Africa producing one of their finest performances on football’s biggest stage

Although he has ruled out coaching at another World Cup, Broos’ comments leave open the possibility that he could remain involved with South African football in another capacity, depending on the federation’s long-term plans

With uncertainty surrounding his future, attention will now turn to upcoming talks between Broos and the South African Football Association, as both parties decide whether their successful partnership will continue beyond this memorable World Cup campaign
