“The President should breathe down the necks of the service chiefs. There must be clear benchmarks for ending insecurity,” he said.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has warned that insecurity remains the biggest political challenge facing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

Oshiomhole said Tinubu had introduced major economic reforms but must urgently address insecurity to restore public confidence and allow Nigerians to enjoy the benefits of those policies.

The Edo North senator spoke during an appearance on TVC News’ Beyond the Headlines.

He urged the President to demand clear and measurable results from the service chiefs and other heads of security agencies.

Oshiomhole acknowledged the recruitment of additional military personnel, the creation of new army divisions and increased operations by security agencies.

He, however, maintained that the measures must translate into improved security for Nigerians.

The former APC national chairman also backed tougher action against violent criminals, insisting that decisive measures were required to end the attacks and strengthen confidence in the government.

According to him, tackling insecurity remains essential to the success of Tinubu’s economic reforms and the administration’s standing ahead of the 2027 election.
