FIFA has announced the schedule for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup draw to take place in the host country, Brazil, setting the tone for what is a hugely anticipated global football showpiece.

The world football governing body has announced that the World Cup draw will take place on December 11 when qualified Africans teams Cameroon, Malawi, Algeria and Morocco and others from across the world will know their opponents.

2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup schedule

In a statement issued on Monday, FIFA confirmed the full programme for the draw to involve 32 qualified teams from across the globe.

“The Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™️ is set to take place on Friday, 11 December 2026 at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio). The event will bring together representatives of the qualified teams and those still in contention, against the backdrop of one of Brazil’s most iconic cultural landmarks,” reads the statement.

“The draw will determine the groups and competitive pathways for the participating nations, who will begin to visualise their journey towards glory at the first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup™️ to be staged in South America.”

Will Banyana Banyana make it to Brazil?

The Indomitable Lionesses, the Scorchers, Fennecs and Atlas Lionesses booked their direct World Cup tickets by virtue of reaching the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final tournament held in Morocco.

For Malawi, they are looking forward to their World Cup debut.

South Africa are also in contention for a place at the global football showpiece, but after eliminating Nigeria with a 2-1 victory in the continental play-off, Banyana Banyana will now have to sail past an intercontinental play-off phase.

Meanwhile, FIFA has announced that over 1,000 guests will attend the final draw, including delegations from qualified teams and those due to participate in the Play-Off Tournament.

The exact time of the live draw show will be confirmed in due course.
