    • Egyptian investment officials met with Indian Ambassador in Cairo to discuss enhancing economic and investment cooperation.
    • Talks emphasized encouraging Indian companies to expand operations in Egypt and boosting bilateral trade.
    • The two nations committed to closer coordination and regular information exchange on key projects, especially in priority sectors.
    • Egypt, as Africa’s second-largest economy, aims to attract investments from India’s growing $4.15 trillion economy.

Mohamed Awad, the Chief Executive Officer of Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), hosted Indian Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy to explore fresh opportunities to increase Indian investments in Egypt.

The talks focused on encouraging Indian companies to expand their local operations, establishing new partnerships, and boosting bilateral trade.

To achieve these goals, the two countries are planning closer coordination and a regular exchange of information on key projects.

As reported by Egypt’s State Service Information, Mohamed Awad affirmed GAFI’s commitment to the partnership, stating that the authority is focused on “continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation with the Indian business community, provide all forms of support, and capitalize on promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, particularly in priority sectors“.

This meeting represents a major push by Egypt to attract capital from one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.

The strategic talks come as Egypt seeks to leverage its position as a dominant economic power in Africa.

With a gross domestic product (GDP) of $429.65 billion (International Monetary Fund estimate), Egypt is officially Africa’s second-largest economy, positioned ahead of Nigeria’s $377.37 billion and trailing only South Africa’s $479.96 billion.

Both nations share a strong commitment to seeing these investment plans succeed. Ambassador Reddy expressed confidence in the venture, highlighting the “promising opportunities available to Indian companies in the Egyptian market“.
