The Centre of Excellence on Cyber Law and Artificial Intelligence Governance and Ethics, established at NUSRL, Ranchi, is dedicated to promoting academic research, policy engagement, and informed discourse in the fast-evolving fields of cyber jurisprudence and technology ethics. The Centre seeks to examine contemporary developments in data protection, algorithmic accountability, digital rights, cybersecurity, and the ethical deployment of emerging technologies through interdisciplinary and research-oriented initiatives.

The Blog of the Centre of Excellence on Cyber Law and Artificial Intelligence Governance and Ethics serves as a platform for fostering academic discourse, policy engagement, and critical analysis of contemporary issues relating to technology law. The Blog encourages contributions that examine the legal, social, economic, and regulatory dimensions of cyberspace and AI governance while remaining accessible, analytical, and research-driven.

Situated in a rapidly evolving digital landscape, where digital public infrastructure and technological innovation are advancing at an unprecedented pace, the Centre is acutely aware of the complex challenges that define the modern internet and AI ecosystem. The proliferation of agentic AI, synthetic media (deepfakes), algorithmic bias, and sophisticated cyber threats present pressing legal and human rights questions. Therefore, the Blog particularly welcomes submissions that explore these technological complexities, critically analyzing how global technology standards intersect with domestic realities, localized data challenges, and emerging frameworks like India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA).

The objective of the Blog is to bridge the gap between academic scholarship, policymaking, industry practices, and digital rights by disseminating high-quality and impactful research.

The Blog invites original and unpublished submissions from students, researchers, academicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, tech industry professionals, and all individuals interested in cyber law, AI ethics, and allied disciplines.

    Special Opportunity for Authors

As part of our commitment to fostering digital legal literacy, everyone who successfully submits a manuscript to the blog will be eligible to enroll in a free certificate course on Cyber Law, which is supported by Google. Details regarding course enrollment will be shared with authors upon receipt of their submissions.

Submissions may be made on the following themes, among others:

    • Regulating Generative AI and Synthetic Media: Legal responses to deepfakes, copyright challenges, and AI content labeling.
    • Algorithmic Bias and Automated Decision-Making: Transparency, “black-box” models, and anti-discrimination laws.
    • AI Liability and Corporate Accountability: Determining fault when AI systems, medical algorithms, or autonomous vehicles fail.
    • Privacy and AI Training Data: The intersection of Large Language Models (LLMs) with data minimization, consent, and the “right to be forgotten”.
    • AI in the Justice System: The ethical and legal implications of AI in predictive policing, e-discovery, and judicial analytics.
    • ESG and the Environmental Impact of AI: Regulating the energy consumption and carbon footprint of training large AI models.
    • The Evolution of Cybercrime: Legal frameworks for tackling AI-driven phishing, ransomware, and prompt injection.
    • Intermediary Liability in the AI Era: Rethinking safe harbor protections for platforms hosting synthetic and AI-generated content.
    • Cross-Border Data Flows and Digital Sovereignty: Navigating international data protection laws and localisation mandates.
    • Cyber Warfare and Autonomous Weapons: International humanitarian law and the regulation of autonomous military technologies.
    • Digital Health Data and AI: Privacy, security, and regulatory compliance in healthcare AI ecosystems.
    • Legal Dynamics of Smart Contracts and Web3: Regulatory challenges in decentralised finance and blockchain networks.

Interdisciplinary submissions exploring the intersection of cyber law and AI with economics, sociology, public policy, computer science, management, and human rights are particularly encouraged.

Contributions are welcome from students, academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, technology professionals, and others interested in cyber law, AI governance, and related disciplines.
