KUALA LUMPUR, 17 July 2026 – FIUSS Labs Sdn Bhd and Awqaf Africa have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing the digitalisation of waqf assets and supporting the development of innovative, waqf-linked Islamic capital market solutions across Africa and African diaspora communities globally.
This strategic collaboration brings together FIUSS Labs’ capabilities in blockchain-enabled asset tokenisation and Islamic FinTech with Awqaf Africa’s expertise in waqf advisory, education and development.
Under the MoU, both organisations will explore joint initiatives in digital waqf development, awareness and training programmes, workshops, research, publications, business matching, the development of strategic Awqaf industry alliances and digital waqf community development.
Datuk Faizal Jamat, Director of FIUSS Labs Sdn Bhd, said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to unlock the potential of waqf through technology. “Waqf has tremendous potential to create sustainable and long-term social and economic impact. Through this collaboration with Awqaf Africa, we aim to bring technology, innovation and Islamic finance together to develop more accessible and impactful digital waqf solutions for Africa and beyond.”
Ibrahim Mugis, President and Director of Awqaf Africa, said the collaboration represents an important step in supporting the evolution of waqf practices across the continent. “Africa has significant opportunities for waqf to play a greater role in community and economic development. Our collaboration with FIUSS Labs will enable us to explore innovative digital approaches, build greater awareness and strengthen the ecosystem needed to advance waqf development across Africa”.
The collaboration will also explore the development of waqf-linked digital assets and real-world asset tokenisation solutions, supported by joint research, content development and promotional initiatives. All activities under the collaboration will be undertaken in accordance with Shariah principles.
The MoU reflects the commitment of both organisations to leverage innovation, strategic partnerships and Islamic social finance to contribute towards the growth of a more inclusive and sustainable digital waqf ecosystem globally.
