THE murder case against Victor Majola (44) and Armindo Pacula (25), who are accused of killing radio and TV presenter DJ Warras, has been postponed.
The two appeared in the Joburg High Court on Monday, 27 July for the continuation of pre-trial proceedings.
However, the matter was postponed to 19 August 2026 after Majola’s legal representative told the court there were outstanding issues regarding the disclosure of evidence and funding for his defence.
Majola’s advocate, Piet du Plessis, told the court his legal team would meet the state on Wednesday to ensure they received full disclosure of the case, saying the documents they had received so far were incomplete.
He also told the court there was uncertainty over whether Majola’s family would be able to continue funding his legal representation, as the trial is expected to run over an extended period.
If funding cannot be secured, Du Plessis said he would assist Majola in applying for Legal Aid or ensure another legal representative was properly briefed.
Addressing Majola, Judge Karam urged him to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
“The interests of justice are not only those interests that pertain to you, but that pertain as well to your co-accused, that pertain to society in general, that pertain to the victim, that pertain to the interests of justice,” said Judge Karam.
The judge also reminded Majola that if he could no longer afford his current legal team, he had the option of applying for Legal Aid, appointing another legal representative or representing himself.
DJ Warras was killed on 16 December 2025 in the Joburg CBD.
