Bafana Bafana received a joyful welcome as they touched down on home soil earlier, following their FIFA World Cup campaign.

Hundreds of fans and dignitaries, including Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie and Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, commended the team for a historic campaign which was a first since hosting the tournament in 2010.

SA Football Association president Danny Jordaan has hinted that Hugo Broos could stay on with Bafana Bafana in some capacity following the team’s return to South Africa

Broos’ contract has come to an end, and the Belgian coach had said he plans to retire from football when South Africa’s campaign at the tournament came to an end.

He, along with 23 players from Bafana’s 26-man squad, arrived back in the country this morning after a historic run to the round of 32 stage.

And with the next World Cup taking place in 2030, Broos is clear on what is required from the national team.
