Digital communications strategist Pauline Njoroge has resigned from the Jubilee Party, bringing to an end a 14-year association with the political outfit and announcing that she is joining the Linda Mwananchi movement. Her resignation takes immediate effect and includes her exit from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), where she served as Deputy Organising Secretary.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Njoroge said her political journey began in 2012 when she joined The National Alliance (TNA) as Communications Manager. She remained with the party following the 2016 merger of TNA and the United Republican Party (URP), which formed the Jubilee Party, serving in various communications and leadership positions over the years.
She said the 14 years she spent in the party shaped her understanding of politics, public service and strategic communication, describing the experience as one of growth and learning. Njoroge also thanked former President Uhuru Kenyatta for the confidence he placed in her, saying his mentorship gave her opportunities to serve both the party and the country in different capacities.
Njoroge revealed that she has been working with the Linda Mwananchi movement since February 2026 and has now decided to dedicate her full time and energy to the platform. She said the movement aligns with her vision of promoting constitutionalism, accountability, the rule of law, good governance and servant leadership.
She added that her decision followed careful reflection and was motivated by a desire to contribute to a citizen-centred movement focused on defending the rights and interests of ordinary Kenyans. According to her, joining the movement represents the beginning of a new chapter in her political career.
Her resignation comes at a time when Kenya’s political landscape is undergoing significant realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election. Several opposition leaders have been working to consolidate support through new alliances and political formations, with the Linda Mwananchi movement emerging as one of the platforms seeking to expand its national influence.
Njoroge’s departure is considered significant because she has been one of Jubilee’s most recognisable communications strategists and among the party’s strongest public voices since it transitioned to the opposition after the 2022 General Election. She frequently defended the party’s positions and remained a key ally of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Jubilee Party itself has experienced a series of leadership changes and internal restructuring in recent months as it seeks to strengthen its organisation and prepare for the next electoral cycle. The party has also been rebuilding its structures following prolonged internal disputes over its leadership.
Earlier this year, Njoroge declared interest in vying for the Nairobi governorship before later announcing her support for Embakasi East MP Babu Owino. Her growing involvement with leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement had fuelled speculation that she could eventually leave Jubilee.
In her resignation statement, Njoroge expressed gratitude to Jubilee members, supporters and colleagues for the opportunities and relationships built during her years in the party. She said the experience had provided a strong foundation that would continue to guide her public service.
Her move is expected to strengthen the Linda Mwananchi movement’s communications and mobilisation efforts as opposition groups continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections by recruiting experienced political leaders and strategists.
The resignation marks another notable political shift within Kenya’s opposition and reflects the broader reorganisation taking place as parties and emerging movements prepare for what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 General Election.
