Peter Obi Never Came To Greet Me Since I Started Campaigning For Him

The younger brother of ex-governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, Isaac Fayose has expressed disappointment that the 2027 presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has never appreciated him for supporting his campaign during the last general election.

Fayose made the remarks in a video on Friday while responding to criticisms that followed his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

According to him, he made personal sacrifices in support of Obi’s presidential ambition but has not received any acknowledgement from the former Anambra State governor.

“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest,” he said.

He lamented that despite his support for the Obidient movement, Obi had never reached out to appreciate him.

“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?” he asked.

Fayose also criticised some supporters of the Obidient movement, accusing them of failing to take responsibility for Nigeria’s political future.

“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves,” he said.

He added that although he is Yoruba and has admiration for Tinubu and his son, it does not mean he cannot support another political movement.

“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy,” Fayose said.

He also declared that if he chose to, he could campaign for President Tinubu ahead of future elections.

“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it,” he added.

Fayose’s comments come days after he addressed the backlash that followed a viral video showing him singing On Your Mandate We Shall Stand alongside Seyi Tinubu.

Reacting in a video shared on Instagram, Fayose denied claims that he had defected to the All Progressives Congress, insisting that his relationship with the President’s son did not change his political allegiance.

According to him, he spent time with Seyi Tinubu, socialite Cubana Chief Priest and others at a gathering where they discussed politics and other issues before ending the evening with prayers.

“I spent quality time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and the rest of us last night. We discussed politics, we discussed everything discussable. When I was leaving, Seyi said, ‘Uncle Isaac, let me walk you to your car,’” he said.

He explained that they prayed together before parting ways, including praying for President Bola Tinubu, stressing that praying for the President should not be interpreted as joining the APC.

“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101 per cent Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he said.
