RunnTV, India’s fastest growing Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) platform, today announced the launch of Openview Stream, Africa’s first independent FAST streaming platform, marking the company’s strategic expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing digital television markets.
As an extension of the eMedia Investments portfolio, Openview Stream represents the group’s strategic expansion into the Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) market. Developed in strategic partnership with RunnTV, eMedia Investments’ technology and FAST platform partner, the platform combines eMedia’s premium content, trusted entertainment brands and deep understanding of African audiences with RunnTV’s proven streaming technology and platform expertise. Together, the partnership delivers a high-quality, free streaming experience designed specifically for African viewers, bringing together the best of local and international entertainment.
Openview Stream is now available across multiple African countries including Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius in its first phase, with a phased rollout planned across additional African markets over the coming months.
Africa is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most promising markets for free streaming. Rising digital and smart TV adoption, improving broadband connectivity and increasing digital video consumption are driving a fundamental shift in how audiences discover and consume television content. Openview Stream aims to accelerate this transition by creating a sustainable ecosystem that benefits viewers, broadcasters, advertisers and content owners alike.
A key pillar of the platform is its commitment to empowering regional broadcasters and content owners. As part of the eMedia Investments portfolio, Openview Stream provides African media companies with a powerful digital distribution platform, enabled by RunnTV’s world-class FAST technology. The platform allows broadcasters to extend their reach beyond traditional television through mobile and Connected TVs while unlocking meaningful new advertising revenue opportunities through a long-term partnership model.
Openview Stream is designed to bring viewers a curated mix of regional and international channels through an accessible, ad-funded streaming experience. The platform’s channel strategy is focused on local resonance, strong entertainment value and a polished viewing experience, while remaining free for consumers.
Commenting on the launch, Manish Sinha, Founder & CEO of RunnTV, said:
“Africa is one of the most exciting growth markets for the future of television, and Openview Stream has been built with that opportunity in mind. Our focus is to support a locally relevant, high-quality FAST experience that gives viewers access to compelling channels while helping African broadcasters and content owners extend their reach across mobile and Connected TV. eMedia Investments brings deep audience insight, strong media brands and local market expertise, making them the ideal partner as we help scale Openview Stream across the continent.”
Khalik Sheriff, Group CEO, eMedia Investments, added:
“The television industry across Africa is entering a new era as audiences increasingly embrace connected and streaming experiences. Openview Stream is an important step in that evolution, combining African storytelling, trusted entertainment and subscription-free access in one digital destination.
