At CBC India, we go beyond traditional distribution by acting as an end-to-end global solutions integrator

Durgesh Sharma, Managing Director, CBC Corporation (India)

How has CBC India performed in 2025 and what’s your expectation from 2026?

In 2025, CBC India delivered a stable and promising performance, driven by strong customer engagement, strategic market expansion and a continued focus on delivering value-added solutions across our core business segments. Despite evolving market conditions and increasing competitive pressures, we successfully strengthened our market position by deepening partnerships, enhancing operational efficiencies, and broadening our solution portfolio in line with industry requirements.

Looking ahead to 2026, we remain confident in our growth path. Our strategic priorities will focus on accelerating business expansion through innovative offerings, deeper penetration into targeted industry verticals, and increased investment in technology-driven initiatives.

We are equally committed to further strengthening customer relationships, enhancing brand visibility and delivering sustainable and profitable growth. Overall, 2026 will be a year of scaling new opportunities, reinforcing market leadership and creating greater long-term value for our customers, partners and stakeholders.

CBC India operates in India through three business segments – life sciences, chemicals & materials and BDM. How does this identity provide a competitive edge?

CBC India’s multi-segment operating model is a key strategic differentiator that strengthens our competitive position across diverse, high-growth industries. By operating through three integrated business segments – life sciences, chemicals & materials and BDM (AI Surveillance & Technology Solutions), CBC India combines deep domain expertise with cross-industry collaborations, enabling us to deliver comprehensive, value-driven solutions rather than standalone products.

Our life sciences and chemicals & materials divisions leverage global sourcing networks, formulation expertise and regulatory understanding to support customers across the entire product lifecycle. Through BDM (AI surveillance solutions), CBC India introduces advanced surveillance and AI intelligent infrastructure solutions that enhance operational safety, compliance and manufacturing efficiency.

Backed by CBC Group’s international network and combined with deep local market understanding, CBC India bridges global innovation with India-specific regulatory, manufacturing and customer requirements. CBC India is a committed long-term strategic partner, consistently enabling reliability and advancing sustainable growth across diverse industrial ecosystems.

Services offered by CBC India – life science division? How do you collaborate with companies for providing a bouquet of services?

CBC India’s life science division provides integrated solutions across pharmaceutical industries, supporting customers throughout the product lifecycle, from development to commercialization.

Advancing healthcare and crop sciences with innovative ingredients and smart packaging solutions, CBC India leverages its life sciences capabilities to combine pharmaceutical ingredients, functional excipients and smart packaging solutions into a unified offering and on a standalone basis. Together with our integrated development and delivery capabilities, we are enabling our partners to innovate faster, scale efficiently and compete globally.

Operating across the full pharmaceutical value chain, the division leverages CBC Group’s global expertise, partnerships and sourcing capabilities to deliver reliable and compliant solutions. CBC India collaborates with global manufacturers, innovators, and technology partners, creating a powerful ecosystem that delivers a true bouquet of integrated services.

Serving as a market bridge, CBC India facilitates the transfer of innovation between global suppliers and Indian manufacturers, enabling access to advanced solutions aligned with evolving industry needs. CBC India enables life sciences companies to innovate with confidence, scale efficiently, and deliver safer, high-quality products across both local and global markets.

The GANZ brand is a key player in surveillance solutions like video camera. Do you see AI based intelligent video analytics solution playing a role in chemical and pharma segment?

The GANZ brand – powered by CBC, is well positioned in surveillance and video security solutions. We certainly see strong potential for GANZ AI Box to play a meaningful role in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. These industries operate in highly regulated and safety-critical environments where real-time monitoring, compliance assurance and risk mitigation are essential.

The GANZ AI Box is a standalone hardware designed to seamlessly integrate with existing surveillance infrastructure, including IP cameras, DVRs and NVRs of any brand. Beyond conventional video recording, the system intelligently interprets live scenes, identifies critical events such as fire and smoke and automatically generates real time alerts to support on time response and improved safety management.

AI-enabled surveillance can support applications such as: process monitoring; safety compliance; restricted-area access control; incident detection; and predictive risk management.

India emerges as the world’s manufacturing and innovation powerhouse. How does CBC India capitalize on this shift?

As India continues to emerge as a global manufacturing and innovation powerhouse, CBC India is strategically positioned to capitalise on this transformation by leveraging its strong global network, local market expertise, and solution-oriented business model. We focus on enabling growth by connecting Indian industries with advanced global technologies, high-quality products and innovative solutions that enhance productivity, efficiency and competitiveness.

Through our diversified business portfolio and deep understanding of evolving market needs, CBC India supports customers across sectors in strengthening their manufacturing capabilities and accelerating innovation.

In addition, our ability to combine the CBC Group’s international experience with India’s dynamic business environment allows us to create agile, customised and scalable solutions.

As supply chains evolve and industries modernise, CBC India remains committed to being a trusted partner in driving sustainable growth, operational excellence and long-term value creation in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

How does CBC Co., Ltd. Japan’s global experience shape CBC India’s partnership model in India?

CBC Co., Ltd. Japan’s extensive global experience plays a vital role in shaping CBC India’s partnership model by bringing a strong legacy of trust, innovation and long-term relationship building. Guided by global best practices and decades of international expertise, CBC India adopts a collaborative and value-driven approach to partnerships across the Indian market.

Our model is centred on understanding customer requirements, aligning with the right global technology partners and delivering solutions that are tailored to local business needs.

How would you describe CBC India’s operating model? What makes it different from other trading companies?

CBC India’s operating model addresses every position in the value chain with precision. Global principals access cost-competitive manufacturing in India through CBC India. Indian manufacturers secure advanced technology and global products to optimize capacity.

Companies with technology and products find trusted local manufacturing partners. Firms with established products and manufacturing receive full regulatory, compliance and clearance support. Market entrants leverage CBC India’s networks, relationships and intelligence for precise launches in India. Technologies and products expand globally through CBC’s 46-location network across five continents.

This capability defines our core across life Sciences, chemicals and materials divisions. The mPIE vision guides our strategy: manufacturing in India, pan-India presence, investments in India, and exports from India. We channel world-class products and technology to trusted principals. We propel Indian manufacturing to global markets. Six active investments, a dedicated Research and Development Centre and relationships with over 2,000 Indian pharmaceutical and chemical companies underpin this approach over 17 years.

CBC India is working on semiconductor and electronics chemicals. What opportunity exists?

Semiconductor and electronics chemicals are where CBC India’s operating model finds its most demanding test and its most compelling appearance. India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ambitions represent one of the most significant industrial shifts of this decade. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for electronics manufacturing, establishment of semiconductor fabrication facilities, and the growth of the domestic electronics supply chain are creating demand for a category of chemicals that requires a level of technical precision that very few organisations can genuinely provide.

Semiconductor fabrication depends on ultra-high purity, application specific chemicals. Processes such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), which deposits material at the atomic scale. This process requires chemistry where impurities measured in parts per billion determine whether a chip performs or fails. This is a domain where technical knowledge, supplier qualification, process understanding and compliance are the actual product.

CBC India’s CDMO model is purpose built for exactly this requirement. We engage early at the process development stage, alongside customers and global technology partners as early as at the procurement stage. Whether the requirement is an Indian manufacturing partner for globally proven chemistry, access to ultra-pure chemical inputs for an existing production facility or a cost-competitive Indian base for a process already validated in Japan or Europe, CBC India has the capability and the network to deliver. In the semiconductor, electronics and chemicals space, we are already well-positioned to deliver on these future needs.

How is CBC India positioned in the CASE chemicals segment and what does it bring to Indian manufacturers in this space?

The Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers (CASE) segment is one of the most technically diverse and commercially dynamic area within specialty chemicals. Every industry that builds, moves, seals or protects something relies on CASE chemistry and the performance requirements across these applications are becoming increasingly challenging.

CBC India’s role in this space mirrors precisely what we do across the broader chemical and materials division. We identify globally advanced formulation chemistries across resins, cross-linkers, functional additives and specialty polymers and connect it to Indian manufacturers who have the capacity to process and commercialise it.

We also work in the reverse direction as in identifying Indian-manufactured CASE inputs that meet the quality and compliance specifications of international markets and facilitate their export.

The CASE segment rewards deep technical engagement. Specification decisions in coatings or adhesives are rarely made at the procurement level alone. They involve formulation chemists, application engineers and regulatory teams. CBC India operates at exactly that level.

Our principal relationships give Indian formulators access to chemistry that would otherwise require years of independent supplier development and our technical engagement model ensures that every new input is supported from laboratory evaluation through to manufacturing scale-up.

As sustainability requirements reshape CASE chemistry globally, driving demand for waterborne, low-VOC and bio-based formulations, CBC India’s access to Japanese and European innovation puts its customers at the front of that transition.

As CBC India looks at the decade ahead, what is the vision driving the organisation?

Our vision is firmly anchored in our group-wide philosophy, “Dream Together.” This guiding principle reflects our belief that sustainable success is built through shared aspirations, collective growth and the strength of collaboration across people, businesses and geographies.

Our vision for CBC India is to be a globally distinguished brand where customers place their trust, employees find their pride and CBC drives meaningful societal impact. This vision guides every decision we make. We are a company that operates on the principle of “co-existence and co-prosperity.”

Over the coming years, CBC India aims to evolve as a future-ready organisation that combines innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centricity to create long-term value.

We are committed to strengthening our capabilities, embracing digital transformation and responding proactively to changing market dynamics, while continuing to uphold the highest standards of quality, trust and reliability.
