South Africa launches AD investigation into Chinese flat-rolled steel

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) launched an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into certain flat-rolled steel products imported from China.
ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited (AMSA), the sole producer of these goods in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) region, lodged the application. The company provided evidence indicating that Chinese imports enter the local market at dumped prices, causing material injury to the domestic industry.
The investigation covers cold-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy steel, and other alloy steel, whether or not in coils. Eligible products include cut-to-length products with a width of 600 millimeters or more that are not clad, plated, or coated. These subject goods are under HS codes 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, and 7225.50.
The scope of this probe excludes stainless steel and grain-oriented silicon electrical steel.
