The seven-match tour of South Africa by New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team, including three Test matches, attracted considerable attention in both countries. As TimesLIVE writes, the month-long series confirmed interest in traditional tours between South Africa and New Zealand.

    Rivalry and respect

The column notes that the rivalry between the All Blacks and the Springboks has a 105-year history and includes 114 Test matches. The author stressed that the tour demonstrated not only sporting competition but also mutual respect between the teams and their fans. In his view, this was particularly evident in the interaction between captains Siya Kolisi and Ardie Savea.

The All Blacks stood out for their attacking play using the width of the field, pace and individual skill. The Springboks, in turn, relied on the scrum, lineout and maul. According to TimesLIVE, the contrast in styles defined the tension and intrigue of the series.

    Upcoming tours

The TimesLIVE author believes that full tours should remain on the modern rugby calendar. According to the plan outlined in the article, the Springboks will travel to New Zealand in 2030, while the All Blacks are due to return to South Africa in 2034.

    Organizational concerns

At the same time, the columnist criticized ticket prices. In his view, prices for the Test matches should have differed substantially from the cost of tickets for the four other tour fixtures, as this limited some fans’ access to the matches.

The schedule also drew criticism: South Africa’s four URC teams were in pre-season preparation, while the Sharks and Lions played their matches on Tuesday. The author called these lessons for future tours rather than grounds for downplaying the series’ success.
