Nigeria international striker Tolu Arokodare has publicly responded to reports surrounding the incident that reportedly led to him being asked to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers’ training ground, insisting that many of the claims circulating in the media are inaccurate.
The Super Eagles forward released a strongly worded statement on his social media accounts after reports emerged that Wolves halted a training session and increased security following a disagreement over his participation in first-team training amid uncertainty surrounding his future at the Championship club.
In his response, Arokodare expressed disappointment with the reports, saying he was “very surprised and disappointed” by the media coverage, which he claimed contained several inaccuracies.
The 25-year-old stressed that professionalism has always been the hallmark of his career, noting that he has consistently maintained high training standards and remained committed to preparing himself to help his teammates whenever called upon.
Arokodare also dismissed suggestions that he had abandoned his responsibilities, emphasizing that he remains a Wolves player and intends to honour his contract professionally.
“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract,” the striker said in his statement.
The statement comes after reports alleged that Arokodare refused to leave the training pitch after being informed he would not take part in first-team training, prompting the club to suspend the session and deploy additional security.
The dispute is believed to be linked to ongoing transfer negotiations, with the Nigerian attracting interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window.
Neither Wolverhampton Wanderers nor manager César Peixoto had issued a detailed response to Arokodare’s statement at the time of reporting, leaving uncertainty over how the situation will affect the striker’s future at Molineux.
With the transfer window still open, attention will now turn to whether the two parties can resolve their differences or agree on a move away from the club.
