The Prefect of the VaticanDicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development(DPIHD) has encouraged young Catholics across West Africa to approach their first regional Youth Day with courage, faith, and hope.
Thousands of young Catholics are expected to participate in the inauguralWest Africa Youth Day, scheduled for September 7–12 in Accra, Ghana. The six-day gathering will include prayer, reflection, fellowship, and celebration.
In amessage addressedto young people ahead of the gathering,Michael Cardinal Czernyhighlighted the event’s theme, “Take Courage,” saying that courage is urgently needed in the world.
“Hello dear young people of West Africa. This September, thousands of young Catholics from across West Africa will gather in Accra for the first Regional Youth Days,” Cardinal Czerny said in his Friday, August 21 message.
The Czech-born member of theSociety of Jesus(SJ/Jesuits) added, “Take courage is the theme and courage is exactly what our world needs from you.”
