    Canada has become the first team to reach the pre-quarterfinals of the Football World Cup 2026. They defeated South Africa 1-0 on Monday. Canada has won a knockout match in this tournament for the first time. Now they will face the winner of the Netherlands and Morocco on July 4

    No goal was scored for 90 minutes in the match played on Monday at the Los Angeles Stadium. Both teams were tied at 0-0. After this, Alistair Johnston scored a goal from outside the D in the second minute of injury time, giving Canada the victory. He was chosen as the Superior Player of the Match

    • Hugo Broos, at 74 years and 79 days old, became the oldest coach to coach a match in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup. He broke the record of Oscar Tabarez, who coached Uruguay in the 2018 World Cup quarter-finals at the age of 71.

    Canada’s coach Jesse called the players national heroes

    After the match, Canada’s head coach Jesse Marsch became emotional. He called the players national heroes on the field. He said that they have become an inspiration for the country’s future. Now, the future of football in Canada will be even brighter

    Team’s strength increased with Davies’ return

    Star defender Alphonso Davies returned from injury in the 75th minute. As soon as he entered the field, he created a great opportunity for Promise David, although it could not be converted into a goal. Eventually, Eustquio saved the team from going into extra time

    South Africa put up a tough fight

    South Africa displayed strong defensive play throughout the match and continuously held Canada back until the goal was scored. Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams made five excellent saves, but could not save the team from defeat in the final moments
