Elite referee Julian Nunoo has been appointed to officiate at the upcoming WAFU Zone B U20 Championship in Ivory Coast.

Nunoo is the only Ghanaian center referee selected for the prestigious tournament, which will take place from July 26 to August 10, 2026.

The experienced referee, who was named Ghana’s Best Referee in 2023, continues to earn recognition from football authorities for his excellent decision-making, fitness levels and command of matches.

His selection to officiate at the regional championship underscores the confidence that the Confederation of <a href="https://absafricatv.com/africa-cdc-urges-u-s-to-lift-uganda-ebola-travel-restrictions/” title=”Africa CDC urges U.S. to lift Uganda Ebola travel restrictions”>African Football (CAF) and WAFU Zone B have in his abilities.

The WAFU Zone B U20 Championship will bring together some of the best young talents in West Africa as countries compete for regional supremacy and qualification to the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations. The tournament carries added significance as it serves as the qualifying competition for the continental championship, which Ghana is set to host in 2027.

Nunoo’s appointment represents another milestone for Ghanaian refereeing and highlights the country’s continued contribution to football officiating in Africa. Over the years, Ghanaian referees have earned respect across the continent, and Nunoo now has the opportunity to further strengthen that legacy in Ivory Coast.

With his proven track record and wealth of experience, Julian Nunoo is expected to once again raise the flag of Ghana high on the international stage while contributing to the success of one of West Africa’s most important youth football competitions.
