Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has brought Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo into his administration as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s film and creative industry.
Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has been appointed Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development.
The actress announced the appointment on her Instagram page on Monday, November 2, nearly six weeks after it was formally announced by the state government.
Her appointment was contained in a public service announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on September 21, 2026.
She is among 101 aides appointed by Mbah across three categories, comprising seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.
The appointment places the actress in a position to contribute to government efforts to develop the state’s entertainment sector, particularly its film industry.
Okonkwo, whose full name is Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, hails from Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
She rose to prominence through her role in the popular Nkoli Nwa Nsukka movie series, which earned her the nickname and made her a familiar face in Nollywood.
Another entertainment industry veteran, Eucharia Anunobi, was also appointed Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu North Zone.
The appointments bring two prominent Nollywood actresses into Mbah’s administration as it seeks to strengthen its engagement with the creative sector and other groups across the state.
