VOVE ID has introduced its Compliance Infrastructure Program, an initiative designed to assist African startups in proactively identifying compliance deficiencies. This is achieved through comprehensive assessments, expert guidance, and actionable roadmaps, all aimed at preparing them before they scale operations.
Startups in Africa, particularly those within regulated sectors, frequently encounter a common hurdle: compliance issues that surface only during due diligence conducted by banks, investors, regulators, or business associates. To enable founders to address these issues proactively, preventing them from impeding growth, VOVE ID has rolled out the VOVE Compliance Infrastructure Program. This new initiative aims to bolster compliance preparedness throughout African and other developing markets.
This program equips founders with actionable resources to evaluate their fundamental compliance frameworks. Key areas covered include customer onboarding, Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), anti-money laundering (AML), fraud prevention, risk monitoring, governance, and the generation of audit evidence. Instead of emphasizing theoretical compliance concepts, the initiative focuses on assisting startups in pinpointing vulnerabilities early and prioritizing necessary enhancements before they impact critical activities like fundraising, obtaining licenses, forming partnerships, or expanding operations. “Founders do not need another compliance lecture. They need a practical way to understand what matters now, what evidence they should maintain, and what to fix before growth creates pressure,” Khalid Aoussar, founder of VOVE ID, tells StartupSceneME. “The VOVE Compliance Infrastructure Program is designed to help startups turn KYC, KYB, compliance, and fraud controls into practical infrastructure for trust, security, and growth.”
The application period for the first cohort commences on July 20 and concludes on August 20, 2026. During this time, between six and eight startups will be chosen for the exclusive review program. Those selected will first complete a 24-question Startup Compliance Readiness Assessment. Subsequently, they will engage in a private 45-60 minute review session with VOVE ID. After this review, every participating startup will be provided with a prioritized summary of their readiness and a 30/60/90-day action roadmap detailing concrete next steps.
Furthermore, the program features a public webinar scheduled for August 27. This session will delve into strategies for startups to develop robust compliance policies, fulfill regulatory requirements, and enhance their fraud prevention protocols. Expert insights will also be shared by guest practitioners from the compliance, banking, risk, and fraud industries.
The readiness assessment tool examines six fundamental categories: clarity of business operations and associated risks; processes for onboarding and decision-making; evidence related to KYC, KYB, and ownership; anti-money laundering screening and continuous monitoring; audit trails, reporting mechanisms, and governance structures; and preparedness for due diligence and future expansion.
