Winter Holding Company says it is expanding its presence across Africa through investments in financial services, financial technology, climate technology and business advisory, as part of its strategy to strengthen the continent’s financial and institutional ecosystem.

Established in 2018, the investment and operating group said it develops, invests in and scales businesses focused on improving access to capital, modernising financial services and addressing institutional challenges across key sectors of the economy.

The company’s portfolio includes Treegar Capital, a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-licensed investment management firm; PennyTree, a fintech company providing digital financial services and business-to-business payment solutions; LaunchCapp, a private capital and alternative investments platform; Atunlo, a climate technology company behind CarbonScope360, a locally developed enterprise carbon accounting platform; and Wilact, a regulatory, licensing and business advisory firm.

Winter Holding also disclosed that Penn Microfinance Bank has received Approval-in-Principle from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as it continues efforts to expand its financial services offerings.

According to the company, the businesses within the group collectively manage assets exceeding ₦13 billion and are focused on promoting financial inclusion, supporting capital market development and creating sustainable economic opportunities across Africa.

Speaking on the company’s long-term strategy, the Group Chairman, Ayo Ogunlowo, said the organisation is focused on building institutions capable of supporting economic development across the continent.

“Africa’s future will be built by institutions that endure. Our focus is not simply on creating successful businesses, but on developing platforms that improve access to capital, support enterprise growth and contribute to long-term economic development,” he said.

He added that the company intends to continue leveraging technology, governance and strategic investments to build businesses that support inclusive growth and strengthen Africa’s financial infrastructure.

The company said its long-term objective is to expand its footprint across the continent by supporting businesses and institutions that contribute to sustainable economic development.
